Bullying Prevention

The Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District is committed to providing a safe, secure, and healthy environment that allows all students to maximize their learning potential.

The Governing Board recognizes the harmful effects of bullying on student learning and school attendance and desires to provide safe school environments that protect students from physical and emotional harm. District employees shall establish student safety as a high priority and shall not tolerate bullying of any student.

No student or group of students shall, through physical, written, verbal, or other means, harass, sexually harass, threaten, intimidate, retaliate, cyberbully, cause bodily injury to, or commit hate violence against any other student or school personnel. (Board Policy 5131.2)

Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District has developed strategies for bullying prevention and intervention to help keep students safe and ensure a healthy learning environment.

Definition of Bullying

Ed. Codes §§ 234, 234.1, 234.2, 234.3 and 234.5

“Bullying” means any severe (can be once, if severe) or pervasive physical or verbal act or conduct, including communications made in writing or by means of an electronic act, and including one or more of the following:

  • Sexual Harassment (§ 48900.2)
  • Hate Violence (§ 48900.3)
  • Threats, harassment, intimidation (§ 48900.4)
  • Has or reasonable predicted to have one or more of the following (looking at impact):

Placing a reasonable pupil or pupils in fear of harm to that pupil's or those pupils' person or property.

Causing a reasonable pupil to experience a substantially detrimental effect on his or her physical or mental health.

Causing a reasonable pupil to experience substantial interference with his or her academic performance.

Causing a reasonable pupil to experience substantial interference with his or her ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by a school.

School Climate Activities

The Dry Creek Joint Elementary School continues its work on building community and positive school climate by participating in the programs below.  The list below is a small reflection of what is happening at schools.  Talk with your school site teacher or administrator to learn more about the programs available at your school.

Anonymous Bully Reporting

If you have witnessed a bullying event, are the victim of bullying or are in fear that a bully/threatening event will take place, please click on the button below to submit an Anonymous Bully Report.

Bully Reports can be sent anonymously to the administration staff at your school. You have the ability to identify yourself within the Bullying Report, if you wish. 

All Bully Reports are taken seriously and are dealt within the timeline needed to thoroughly investigate and resolve each incident.  Since each incident varies, please allow appropriate time for the report to be investigated and resolved appropriately.

If you would rather submit your Anonymous Bully Report by hand, please download the form HERE and return to your school office/administration.

Teachers, staff, and administration are also available to discuss bullying instances confidentially, if you do not wish to fill out an online form.
